Department of Communication Networks graduates the Bachelor of Science,
specialist and Master of Science at a specialty “Information Communication Networks” in
Telecommunication direction. The licensed amount of the acceptance is 140 students both with
the full time and correspondence education on state budget and contract base. Also there are two
auxiliary forms of education to be provided by the department: externship and postgraduate. The
specialty “Information Communication Networks” is a broad scoped one in the area of information
technologies. Our students are experienced in software, hardware equipment of computer and
telecommunication networks for a different purpose.
During their education the students get professional knowledges and
skills at up-to-date digital technologies of telephony, mobile communications (cellular, trunking,
personal satellite), data networks (local, wide, corporate), integrated services digital networks,
intelligent networks, multiservice networks, next generation networks (NGN), in creation and
providing resources and services of the Internet.
There are six chief subjects within the specialty “Information
Communication Networks”:
- Information communication networks.
- Mobile communications.
- Information technologies, networks and systems in business.
- Software of information communication networks.
- Automatic telecommunication facilities.
- Mail service networks.
All of these chief subjects are confirmed by Ukrainian Ministry of
Education and Science.
The graduate students of the specialty “Information Communication Networks”
work:
- at companies and organizations providing such services as
telephony, mobile communications and the Internet (Ukrtelecom, U'tel, Veltontelecom, KyivStar, MTS,
Life, Beeline, Internet-providers and the others);
- as system administrators that manage local and corporate
networks, database administrators at banking establishments, product and trade companies,
educational organizations, organs of government and power structures;
- at companies that work in area of development and designing of
information communication networks of various types.
There are 39 employees at the department. The stuff includes:
- 6 doctors of science and professors (Bezruk V.M., Voloschuk V.I.,
Presnjakov I.M., Botcman P.D., Emeljanov V.V., Zelenin A.M.);
- 11 candidates of science (PhD), assistant professors (Astrahancev

- 6 upper teachers (Bibka O.I., Koltun U.M., Мalinin O.P., Мal'kov
O.М., Svid I.V., Shirjaev А.V.);
- 16 assistants, PhD-students and scientific employees.
The students are being learnt following disciplines: discrete
mathematics, informatics, computing technology and microprocessors, applied computer technologies,
principles of information distribution theory, switching systems in telecommunications,
telecommunication and information networks, local area networks, network operating systems,
Internet-technologies, information systems and Internet, information communications based on
Internet, IP-telephony, intellectual networks, neural networks, digital communication technologies,
document communication networks, integrated services digital networks, mobile objects communication
systems and networks, technologies of subscriber access networks, satellite communication and
navigation systems, systems and networks for radio- and telecasting, automation of designing
telecommunications, methods of optimization, information security in telecommunication systems,
business processes in telecommunications, billing systems in telecommunications, databases in
information communication networks, electrical signals and circuits theory, principles of circuits
engineering, telecommunications transmission systems, measuring technologies in communication
networks, planning and designing of information systems, information networks management, packet

cellular and trunking communications, mobile objects switching systems, subscribes’ access to base
telecommunication networks, information networks in economy, information security in bank networks,
e-payment systems, transactions security in the open networks, etc.
Tutorials and text-books that reflect modern achievements in
corresponding areas of science and engineering are being prepared and published on all disciplines.
A scientific direction of the department is
Information-Telecommunication Technologies and networks.
Scientific manager d.t.s., prof. Bezruk V.M.
Components of the department scientific direction:
- Studying and development of methods to increase efficiency,
noise immunity and information security of information communication networks.
- Studying and development information communication networks
simulation and multicriterion optimization methods.
- Methods of modulation, coding and spectral analysis in
multiservice communication networks studying.

navigation networks technologies.
- Technologies of information distribution and management in next
generation multiservice networks.
- Information distribution and digital signal processing methods
development with respect to communication networks.
There is a problem scientific research laboratory “Radiophysical
signals processing” in the structure of the department. A scientific direction of the laboratory is
“Technologies and hardware-software of digital information communication networks”.
International collaboration
The scientists of the department have close contacts on the fields
of science and education with leading universities and companies in Russia, Poland, Germany,
France, Mexico, Canada.
The employees and students of the department constantly take part
in scientific conferences of international, republican and regional levels. In scientific
developments at the department are involved not only employees and PhD-students, but also students
in their 2-5 years. There are 100 scientific articles have been recently published on results of
the scientific studies that are kept at the department. Scientific and technical implementations
are protected by 50 certificates of authorship and 8 Ukrainian and Russian patents.
