The Department of Applied Mathematics graduates the bachelors, specialists and masters of the direction "Applied mathematics" on specialities "Applied mathematics" and "System analysis and control". The Head of the Department of Applied Mathematics is professor, doctor of the technical science Andrey Dmitrievich Tevyashev.

One Academician, one Corresponding Member NANU, 9 professors, 8 assistants professor, 1 senior lecturer and 7 assistants work at Department. They give a courses of the direction "Applied mathematics" such as "Mathematical analysis", "Algebra and geometry", "Probability theory and mathematical statistics", "Functional analysis", "Differential equations", "Mathematical physics equations", "Functions of a complex variable theory", "Numerical methods", "Optimization methods", "Operations research", "Random processes", "Stochastic programming", "Optimal stochastic control", "Introduction to system analysis", "General topology", "Constructive methods in mathematics" and others.

The Department develops the scientific work on such directions: "New information resources preserving technologies of the extraction, transport preparing and allocation to oils and natural gas", "Development and exploration of new information energy conservation and ecological safe technology in systems of energy", "Intellectual system of taking decisions support in immunology investigations" (the Head prof. A. D. Tevyashev); "Development of the mathematical methods of the analysis of fast changing electrodynamic processes" (the Head prof. V. A. Dikarev).

The Department of Applied Mathematics cooperates with Institute of the problems of engineering industry NANU, has there its branch. The Head of the branch is the prominent scientist, Corresponding Member NANU, prof. Yu. G. Stoyan.
