Licensing of foreign students’ training in accredited
directions and specialisms in KhNURE
Ukraine has taken its course for entering the European educational space. The
fact that in practice Ukraine joined the Bologna process caused modernization of educational
activities of higher school in Ukraine, which creates favourable conditions for extending weight of
Ukrainian educational institutions on the world market of educational services.
The system of foreign students’ enrolment in Ukrainian higher educational
institutions involves concluding an agreement with entrepreneurs about providing intermediate
services of foreign students’ enrolment. The Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics
concluded 22 formal agreements with entrepreneurs about providing intermediate services of foreign
students’ enrolment for the 2008/ 2009 academic year. In the last 5 years the number of formal
agreements has grown from 8 to 22. This process is stable, which confirms the need to provide
educational services for foreign students in the Kharkiv region.
In 1999 in the KhNURE the Centre for students’ training in foreign languages was
created, where such disciplines as computer engineering, economics and business, telecommunications
are taught in English. More than 200 foreign citizens are being trained in the Centre. Teachers
from 24 departments of the university take part in this project and their number is constantly
increasing.
In the Kharkiv region foreign students can study computer systems and networks,
economic cybernetics, telecommunication systems in English only in the KhNURE, whereas computer
systems and networks are taught in English in the Donetsk National Technical University (DNTU),
economic cybernetics – in the Ternopil University of Economics, telecommunication systems – in the
Odesa National Academy of Communication.
In the KhNURE work with foreign students is coordinated by the Agency for
International Cooperation, External Relations and Marketing, headed by S.I. Petrov; the Centre for
students’ training in foreign languages preparing specialists in English and headed by Professor
V.A. Gorbashev, Candidate of Science.
