in the Kharkov national university of radioelectronics

The Kharkov National University of Radio Electronics (KNURE) - a higher educational institution of IV level accreditation for the last 7 years prepares masters in speciality 8.091501"Computer Systems and Networks». For the last three years the University prepared 106 masters in speciality 8.091501"Computer Systems and Networks», some of which continue their training in postgraduate program, others work in scientific research institutes, scientific production associations and enterprises of different fields of the industry.

The ECM department has experience of preparing masters in speciality 8.091501"Computer Systems and Networks», maintains close relations with organizations not only in Kharkov and Ukraine, but also with foreign establishments like «Wessex Institute of Technology» Southampton (Great Britain), Technical University Ilmenau (Germany), University of Sapporo (Japan), Technical University Green Gura (Poland) and others.
Graduates of a speciality «Computer systems and networks» are engaged in development and installation, configuration and administration, operation and technical support, testing and diagnostics of computer systems and networks. They possess a wide spectrum of knowledge and abilities on designing and operation of hardware and the system software; WAN  and LAN; workstations and clusters; high-perfomance computers with CISC - and RISC-architecture.
The Kharkov national university of radioelectronics carried out monitoring of a labors market in the Kharkov region concerning need for masters of a speciality 8.091501 «Computer systems and networks». Quantity of masters by inquiries of such enterprises as Open Company «TK Vilkom», Kharkov; Open Society "Ukrtelecom", Kharkov; Open Company "IPRA-SOFT", Kharkov; «Research Institute of  Instrument Making»; "UFTI";  «The Kharkov Factory of Т. G.Shevchenko»; Open Company «ADB Ukraine», Kharkov is not less than 80 persons. The need for such experts will increase in the near future.

The ECM department has a total area of 524.6 sq.metres, out of which 406.5 sq.metres are utilized for educational purposes - (six laboratories where laboratory works and practical trainings are carried out in specialties 7.091502, 8.091502 SP (System Programming) and 7.091501, 8.091501 CSN (Computer Systems and Networks) and one research laboratory):
– laboratory for Designing of Computing Devices and Systems has an area of 72.7 sq.metres and equipped with computers Celeron 1.7GHz, 256 Mb of the RAM, 40 Gb HDD and other necessary means for carrying out of laboratory works and practical trainings.
– laboratory (area of 74.4 sq.metres) in which laboratory works and practical trainings are carried out for full-time and correspondence students in the disciplines: Architecture of Computers, INTERNET Programming and Organization of Databases.
– laboratory of  Computer Systems and Network Technologies, has an area of 72.7 sq.metres in which laboratory works and practical trainings are carried out for full-time and correspondence students in the disciplines: INTERNET Technologies, Computer Networks, Computer Systems, Computer Systems on the Basis of Indistinct Logic, Corporate Computer Networks, Network Operating Systems, Designing and Functioning of INTERNET Bases, Control Systems of Databases, System Programming, Circuitry of Analogue Components of СS, Images Formation  in Computer Graphics.
– laboratory of Systems Modeling, has an area of 60.4 sq.metres in which laboratory works and practical trainings are carried out for full-time and correspondence students in the disciplines:  Modeling and Designing of Systems, Hardware Description Languages, Computer Circuitry, Synthesis of Digital Systems on  Crystal, Design of Microcontroller Systems, Design of Special Processors, Administration of Computer Networks, Corporate Computer Cetworks.
In 2009 it is planned to acquire 11 latest model computers with configuration: CPU Intel s775 Core-2 Quad Q9550 (2,83GHz, 1333 MHz) on the basis of chipset Intel® P35, HDD 500 Gb, nVidia GeForce 8600 GT 256 Mb.
– laboratory of Program Systems Design, has an area of 54.9 sq.metres in which laboratory works and practical trainings are carried out for full-time and correspondence students in the disciplines: Microcontroller Systems Design, Image Formation in Computer Graphics, Technology of Program Systems Design, Computer Networks, System Modeling, Computer Systems on the Basis of Indistinct Logic, Introduction to Specialty, Connection of the Personal Computer with External Devices.
– laboratory of Parallel and Distributed Computer Systems, has an area of 71.4 sq.metres. It was created in 2002 after premise major repairs on the basis of its predecessor "Laboratory of  Computer Hardware". In 2006 the laboratory was equipped with the newest computer techniques and a local network consisting of 10 workstations (on the basis of highly efficient two-nuclear Intel processors) and a dedicated server was created. Apart from the functions of local network management, the server also carries out functions of a gateway which connects a local network of laboratory with network of KNURE.
In laboratory «Computer Class», with an area of 55 sq.metres, foreign students of master program study disciplines on Intellectual Neural Systems, Web-based Systems and Technologies, Testing of Digital Systems, Programming in Computer Networks, Special Problems of Computer Network Security, etc. The Laboratory is equipped with modern computer facilities, including Xilinx Spartan-3E breadboards for physical modeling of computer engineering devices and equipment complex for modeling, adjustment and monitoring of elements of wireless computer networks. At present we hold negotiations with Schneider Electric for purchase of educational hardware and software complexes for a subject «Industrial Computer Networks».
The laboratory "Distributed Systems Laboratory", with an area of 15 sq.metres, is equipped for practical and laboratory works in disciplines «Wireless Networks», «Computer Systems».
Students of speciality 8.091501"Computer Systems and Networks" undergo practical training in ECM department, KNURE; Open Company «TK Vilkom», Kharkov; Open Society "Ukrtelecom", Kharkov; Open Company "IPRA-SOFT", Kharkov; «Research Institute of  Instrument Making»; "UFTI";  Regional Clinical Hospital, Kharkov; «The Kharkov Factory of Т. G.Shevchenko»; Open Society «ММC of Ilyich», Mariupol, Donetsk region; Open Society MC "Azovstal", Mariupol, Donetsk region; Open Company «ADB Ukraine», Kharkov and in many other enterprises of different patterns of ownership.

Educational process in the department is provided by 46 staff teachers: 4 professors − are doctors of sciences, 1 MES professor, 3 university professors, 1 university associate professor, 16 associate professors, 6 senior lecturers, 3 assistants – are candidates of sciences, 12 assistants - without scientific degree. Amongst of all candidates of technical sciences, 8 lecturers have the right to conduct postgraduate preparation. The average age of the teaching staff is about 49 years taking into account assistants who conduct laboratory and practical training. Over 60 % of lecturers have more than 10 years of teaching experience. Thus masters preparation is annually conducted by 16-17 university lecturers and by 3-5 part-time lecturers.
The department teaching staff expands by recruiting leading experts in this speciality as part-time lecturers and also by preparing its own teaching personnel  - graduates of postgraduate and doctoral studies.
Lecturers of the department regularly (once in 5 years) take refresher training for the purposes of improving and updating their professional and pedagogical skills on the basis of existing Regulation regarding  improvement of professional skills and provisions of the Law of Ukraine on higher education.

All the disciplines of the academic curriculum for specialty 8.091501"Computer Systems and Networks» on which performance of practical and laboratory works is planned, are provided by corresponding methodical instructions. Methodical instructions for individual work of students and complex tests are developed; for each discipline a working program is developed according to the curriculum.
All the disciplines which require the performance of course projects are provided with methodical instructions and themes of course work (projects). Methodical guidelines on performance of masters research projects has been developed.

Scientific direction of the department - Digital Technologies of Information Processing in real time. Within the framework of this basic direction, employees of the department conduct fundamental and applied scientific researches in the following thematic directions:
- Computing systems and technologies for information processing, management and synthesis of images in real time (scientific supervisors - prof. Rudenko O. G. Ph.D., prof. Udovenko S.G. Ph.D., prof. Gusyatin V. M. Ph.D.);
- Information technologies of designing of corporate computing systems and networks, as well as artificial intellect systems on the basis of neural networks and fuzzy logic (scientific supervisors - prof. Rudenko O. G. Ph.D., prof. Mihal O. F. Ph.D., prof. Zavizistup Yu.Y. (Cand.), associate professor Korablev N. M. (Cand.), associate professor Aksak N.G. (Cand.));
- Information technologies of complex systems description at architectural level (scientific supervisors - prof. Gorbachev V. A. Ph.D., prof. Alipov N.V. Ph.D.).
On subject of these researches lecturers and employees of the department, for the last five years have published over 450 scientific works (particularly, 3 monographies of  prof. Rudenko O. G. on the theory of artificial neural networks) and over 260 theses and reports on both Ukrainian and international scientific symposiums and conferences.
A number of essentially new devices for digital processing of the information were created by the research laboratory «Application-specific digital computing sys-tems» that operates within the department.
For development of scientific and research works in the field of information sys-tems, as well as expansion of international contacts by the initiative of ECM department the quadrilateral contract on cooperation was concluded between KHNURE, Technical University Ilmenau (Germany), Leipzig University of Technics, Economy and Cultures (Germany) and firm “Doctor Shtefan and partners. The software» (Germany). Within the framework of the present contract the ECM department received the licenced software and imitating modelling system  «Intelligent Pad».
In 2005 the ECM department concluded the contract with the leading European firm in the field of digital TV «ADB» (Poland). Within the framework of the present contract on the basis of the ECM department with financial support from "ADB" firm the research laboratory having the following equipments was created: computers (12 complete sets), a server, computer tables and chairs, literature for the specialty and a writing board.
Since 2005 the ECM department participates in university program - Texas Instruments. In accordance with the contract on cooperation with official dealer Texas Instruments in Ukraine Co Ltd «Grand Electronic», the ECM department received 8 debugging complete sets MSP-FET 430U64 with the corresponding software.
On the basis of «Parallel and distributed computer systems» laboratory of ECM department,  the "Intel" firm conducted in May 2007 Technological practical training session «Means, Methods, Technologies of Parallel Programming» with the further transferring of free licenced software WINDOWS XP, Microsoft Visual Studio 2005, Vtune for carrying out scientific researches and educational process in KNURE.
In 2001 the agreement between KNURE and Wessex Institute of Technology (Great Britain) on the general preparation of masters in speciality «Information System, Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery» was signed.
For the purposes of increasing the preparation level of foreign and domestic students in 1999 the Center for Training Students in Foreign Languages (CNSIM) was founded. Presently, CNSIM conducts preparation in English language in the following directions: Computer Engineering, Economics and Enterprises, Telecommunications; and specialities: Computer Systems and Networks, Economical Cybernetics, Telecommunication Systems.
