Teaching staff

The KhNURE is now at full strength. 25 heads of the departments have a scientific degree and a corresponding academic rank.

The qualitative composition of scientific and pedagogical staff involved in the academic process is as follows: the total amount of the staff in 2008/ 2009 is 704 people, among them there are 141 Professors, Doctors of Science and 334 Associate Professors, Candidates of Science.

The university permanently works on effective professional development of scientific and pedagogical staff taking into account modern requirements to introduction of the latest technologies into the educational process and scientific work. The main type of teachers’ professional development is training on enterprises, in scientific institutions both in Ukraine and abroad.

Training of scientific and pedagogical staff is accomplished through postgraduate and doctoral courses of the KhNURE in 26 departments having 29 scientific specialisms. There are 7 specialized academic councils in the KhNURE including 4 doctoral and 3 candidate councils where 17 specialisms are presented. In the last 4 years 20 foreign students were enrolled in postgraduate courses. They defended 16 Candidate’s dissertations.

In order to improve students’ knowledge of English in the university there exists a programme INTENSIVE where a training course REWARD is widely used, being a unique interactive learning complex. Not only students of all faculties, but also teachers and staff of the Distance Learning Centre, Centre for students’ training in foreign languages take part in this programme.
